Block yesterday. The devastation is hitting lake county hard. Theyre calling it the clayton fire. Its tearing through lower lake. Firefighters are working tirelessly to save those homes in the fires path. The hardest hit is that lower lake area. Historic businesses have been reduced to ash. The community of clear lake is threatened at this hour. Last update we received said 3,000 acres are burned. Fire Officials Say thats a conservative estimate. Its unclear how many homes have been destroyed. Fire Officials Say at least ten. The number is expected to rise dramatically. 6,000 people have been forced to evacuate. So far several local strike teams are on the lines helping battle the flames. There are several strike teams from the bay area that have been deployed to help fight the clayton fire. In is the clayton fire completely burning out of control to the north in lake county. Here is the latest numbers we received overnight. At least 10 homes and businesses are completely destroyed. More than 3,000 acres have burned. And that number is actually expected to jump drastically. Some 6,000 people have been evacuated so far. Those numbers could go up as well.
