three pharmacy-led sites. HOSPITALS. There are now two hospital hubs in Somerset delivering the vaccine seven days a week to people aged over 80, frontline health and social care workers and care home residents and their carers.
Musgrove Park Hospital – started vaccinating in 2021;
Yeovil District Hospital – part of the initial wave of 50 hospital hubs, started vaccinating on 9 December 2020. COMMUNITY GP-LED SITES AND CARE HOMES. The GP-led sites are being organised by primary care networks, which are groups of local GP practices in an area working together to deliver this vaccination programme in community locations. There are 13 PCNs, which cover the whole of Somerset, vaccinating patients. They are currently focussing on those who are over 80; frontline health and social care workers as well as care home residents and carers.
The Gateway Centre in Yeovil These initial GP-led sites have been developed by primary care networks (groups of local GP practices) who have been working closely together to develop detailed plans to deliver Covid-19 vaccinations in community locations. Dr Tim Norbury, local GP Partner and Tone Valley primary care network COVID vaccination lead, said: “We’re delighted to be leading the way as one of the first initial GP- led sites in Somerset to offer the Covid-19 vaccine to our most vulnerable patients in the Taunton area. “This has been an amazing example of team work from across our network and all GP practices across the county, where teams have worked extremely hard together, in partnership with local NHS colleagues to set up the first COVID-19 vaccinations.
