Monday, 10 May 2021 Ukraine Sambo Federation President Vadim Rogach has praised organisers after more than 400 athletes took part in the National Cadet Sambo Championships. The Kharkov oblast, which won the team event, also came in for praise from Rogach. Kharkiov is our flagman in training of sambo athletes , Rogach declared. The athletes, from 20 oblasts, competed in 10 categories at the competition in Kherson, which will be used to determine Ukraine s team for the European Cadet Sambo Championships in The Netherlands in December. National Sambo Federation of Ukraine holds Youth Championship Sunday, 14 February 2021 National Sambo Federation of Ukraine President Vadim Rogach has welcomed the return of competition amid the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. The national governing body were allowed to hold the Youth Sambo Championship in Kharkiv. The three-day event was held from February 5 to 7. Rogach said the event would be the first national competition of the season, with the event used to help select athletes for the upcoming European and World Championships. It was the first national championship of this scale in Ukraine among all sports, Rogach said. Sambo wrestlers have once again shown how, in conditions of quarantine restrictions, it is possible to hold competitions, while observing all the requirements of medical organisations.

Rudniev and Shevchenko crowned best Ukrainian sambists of 2020 Tuesday, 12 January 2021 Combat sambo under-74-kilogram world champion Vladislav Rudniev and women s under-64kg world champion Anastasia Shevchenko have been named Ukraine s top sambists for 2020. The National Ukrainian Sambo Federation named the two gold medallists from the 2020 World Sambo Championships in Novi Sad in Serbia as its best athletes of the year. Shevchenko and Rudniev first in the organisation s ratings, tied with a total of 1680 points. In the women s under-64kg, Shevchenko defeated Belarus Vera Harelikava in the final; Rudniev won his gold medal after victory over Daiyrbek Karyiaev of Kyrgyzstan. Three-time world champion Rudniev previously stated that he believed Russia s reign as a dominant force in the sport was diminishing.
