The 44th AGM of apex labour co-op federation NLCF turned stormy with members after members expressing anger over one of the Directors V V P Nair filing a police complaint over an alleged misappropriation of funds.
The atmosphere turned toxic soon after the beginning of the proceedings. The Managing Director put the agenda which was passed by the members and then began an acidic round of allegation and counter allegation. Majority of members were up on their feet demanding expulsion of Nair and his society from its membership to the apex body NLCF.
“Bowing to the overwhelming response of members, the NLCF’s General Body passes the resolution of expelling Nair’s society”, said Ashok Dabas concluding the debate and trying to end the mayhem being witnessed at the top floor of Federation’s Sarita Vihar office in Delhi on Monday.
Despite the smouldering subterranean fire, NLCF leaders came together on the occasion of the 44th AGM in Delhi to celebrate their huge success at the recently concluded NCUI elections.
There are five members of us who have made it to the top co-op body in the country, said Ashok Dabas with a sense of pride. NLCF wishes to felicitate them, he added. Dabas himself waged an unsuccessful heroic fight against VVP Nair at the NCUI election.
It bears recall that three Directors on the Board of NLCF made it to NCUI’s Governing Council. They are Sanjiv Kushalkar, VVP Nair and Arun Tomar. The other two felicitated on the occasion are those spearheading labour co-op movements in their respective areas. They are Jeena Potsangbam and Gurpartap Singh Khushalpur.
