Dec 19, Colombo: A sum of Rs. 1 billion per month has been allocated from this year’s budget for the development of the domestic economy alone with the aim of rebuilding the country’s economy which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 epidemic, Basil Rajapaksa, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation said yesterday (18).
Accordingly, a sum of Rs. 10 billion has been allocated from this year’s budget for the development of the domestic economy of the country, he said. Mr. Rajapaksa said although it’s a difficult task but in order to implement those projects, every institution from the village level should be involved and at least one project should be implemented per village.
