Newly-appointed Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Tirath Singh Rawat is set to expand its Cabinet soon. Sources in the party informed that there are three Cabinet posts up for grabs and will be filled soon. Confirming this, Dushyant Gautam, in charge of Uttrakhand said that the Cabinet expansion will take place soon. There would soon be a Cabinet expansion, said Gautam when asked about the expansion of Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat s Cabinet. Amid this talk of the impending expansion, Madan Kaushik, State Minister for Urban Development, too had met Gautam on Thursday in the national Capital. While leaders refused to divulge any further details, senior leaders in the party s State unit informed that three more ministers can be sworn in during the expansion.
The Congress on Tuesday said the resignation of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat was an eyewash to hide the government s failures , and urged the President to dismiss the BJP dispensation in the state. Congress party in-charge for Uttarakhand Devendra Yadav said at a press conference that the act shows the admission by the BJP of its government s failure in fulfilling the aspirations of people of the state. He said the BJP government should resign and go to the people to seek fresh elections. Yadav said this shows that nothing in the name of development has taken place in Uttarakhand under the BJP rule, except corruption .

One more body has been recovered from a flood-hit area in Uttarakhand s Chamoli district, taking the toll in the glacial disaster to 62, even as search and rescue operations continued for the 13th day at the NTPC s Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project site. One body was recovered late Thursday night from the banks of the Alaknanda at Helang between Joshimath and Pipalkoti, Chamoli district police said on Friday. The body was found at a coffer barrage of the THDC, it said. With this recovery, the toll in the February 7 disaster has risen to 62 while 142 people are still missing, they said. The number of bodies recovered from the intake Adit tunnel of Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project where a massive search operation has been under way ever since the tragedy struck still stands at 13.
