Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-backed National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar is India's new Vice President. Dhankar got 528 votes and Opposition candidate Margaret Alva secured 128 votes in the election. At least 15 votes were invalid. As many as 725 MPs voted in the election, polling for which started at 10 AM and ended at 5 PM.
The National Democratic Alliance candidate received 346 of the 725 votes cast. Opposition candidate Margaret Alva got 182 votes, while 15 ballots were invalid.
