Yasmin reviews progress on mobile health units Lahore February 3, 2021 LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid reviewed progress on Prime Minister Health Initiative and the Mobile Health Units at a meeting of the Primary and Secondary Healthcare (PSH) Department here on Tuesday. Secretary PSH Department Capt (r) Usman Younis, Additional Secretary Development PSH Omar Farooq Alvi, Prof Javed Ch and senior department officials were present in the meeting. Secretary PSH Department Capt (r) Usman Younis apprised the minister of the update as well as latest developments on the Prime Minister Health Initiative and Mobile Health Units. The minister said, “Under the Prime Minister Health Initiative the upgradation work is underway in eight districts of the province which are: Attock, Mianwali, Chiniot, Kasur, Lodhran, Jhang, DG Khan and Rajanpur. Through Mobile Health Units, screening for hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB will be initiated besides initiatives for improvement

Corona vaccine may have side effects: Yasmin

National February 2, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has cautioned that corona vaccines may carry certain side effects; therefore, one should get it at one’s own risk. “Although research on corona is still going on all around the world, news of deaths of some COVID-19 vaccine recipients in certain parts of world is disturbing,” she said while addressing a press conference here at Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR) on Monday. “The Punjab will start vaccinating people in the next two day,” she said, adding that China’s firm Sino Pharma has donated 500,000 doses of vaccines to Pakistan’s healthcare workers for which we are grateful to the Chinese government. The first consignment of the vaccine has reached Pakistan.

Speaking at a Press Conference at the Directorate General Health Services on Monday, the health minister said people must follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to save themselves from the pandemic. In the last 24 hours, as many as 443 people tested positive and 11 people lost their lives. The positivity ratio in Lahore was 3.95%, 1.9% in Rawalpindi, 3.39% in Faisalabad and in the last 24 hours, 15,000 Covid-19 tests were conducted.

‘Anaesthetists will get extra annual allowance’ Minister vows to pay Rs200,000 to specialists serving in the province LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has announced that an extra annual allowance shall be given to anaesthetists serving in the district and tehsil headquarters hospitals. While presiding over a meeting at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, the minister announced that allowance of Rs150,000 to Rs200,000 shall be paid to anaesthetists in the province. The health minister said, “The summary for the hiring for another 691 positions in the department has been sent to Punjab Public Service Commission. This will include 79 seats for specialist anaesthetists because the government is trying to ensure their presence at all facilities.”

Punjab Health minister, CS inaugurate polio drive National January 9, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik inaugurated polio campaign by administering polio drops to children at Darbar Hall, Civil Secretariat, here Friday. The minister also chaired the provincial task force meeting for polio eradication at Civil Secretariat. She reviewed arrangements for polio campaign which will starts from 11th January. Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Captain (R) Usman Younis, Additional Secretary Sundas Irshad, Commissioners of Lahore and Faisalabad Division attended the meeting whereas all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners joined via video link. Usman Younis presented a detailed analysis of the previous polio campaigns. Speaking on the occasion, the health minister said more than 20 million children of below five years of age shall be administered polio drops in the current polio campaign.
