Punjab cabinet holds meeting on dengue prevention

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid chaired the Cabinet meeting on Dengue prevention at the Darbar Hall of the Civil Secretariat here on Thursday.
Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Capt (retd) Usman Younus, Director General Health Services Punjab, officials of the Police Department, DGPR, Higher Education Department, Special Branch, Civil Aviation, local government, Public healthcare commission and other departments attended the meeting while the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners joined via video Link Conference.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Capt (retd) Usman Younus apprised the Minister Health of the measures taken for the prevention and control of dengue epidemic as well as the status of treatment facilities for the patients in the province.

Ministers review progress on family planning

LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and Minister for Population Welfare Col (retd) Hashim Dogar chaired a meeting to review performance of different committees on family planning and way forward at the Population Welfare Department here on Thursday.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Capt (retd) Usman Younis, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Barrister Nabeel Awan, Dr Khurram Khan, Ali Babar from Population Welfare Department and Dr Zulfiqar Ali were present in the meeting. The officials of the Population Welfare Department gave a progress review and tabled suggestions to improve the performance.

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has cautioned that corona vaccines may carry certain side effects; therefore, one should get it at one’s own risk.
“Although research on corona is still going on all around the world, news of deaths of some COVID-19 vaccine recipients in certain parts of world is disturbing,” she said while addressing a press conference here at Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR) on Monday.
“The Punjab will start vaccinating people in the next two day,” she said, adding that China’s firm Sino Pharma has donated 500,000 doses of vaccines to Pakistan’s healthcare workers for which we are grateful to the Chinese government. The first consignment of the vaccine has reached Pakistan.

LAHORE: Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Capt. (retd) Muhammad Usman has stated that with the use of new technologies and sustained cooperation of all partners the Punjab would become TB-Free by stipulated timeframe of 2030.
He stressed that TB Control was one of his flagship programmes and an integral cornerstone of Provincial Health Strategy of the Punjab. He maintained the provincial government was attaching a very high priority to social sectors, particularly health, in an effort to improve health indicators and outcomes in the province.
He was delivering a keynote address at the launch of a project for intensifying TB case detection through pharmacies with the help of Pakistan’s first mobile application (e-TB) for notifying TB patients through pharmacies.
