Rainbow of 80,000 tulips stretching across union square free for the picking. Was it worth the wait . Yes. Becky cortez came from l. A. And stood in line for five hours to celebrate tulip day and take home a maximum of eight stems, just to be one of the first people in line and to be able to pick up the flowers like the best quality flowers before the sun starts to get here. To get the photos, we want to keep this line going. Thousands of people lined up and that line was epic, stretching around union square. Really crazy to see all these flowers and see everyone come together, so i wanted to be a part of it. The event started in 2018, blooming from a relationship between San Francisco and the netherlands, inspired by tulip festivals in amsterdam. But this year its about more than just pretty flowers.
