Portions of US 34 and IL 41 to get pavement patching starting Tuesday

Additionally, pavement patching will be getting started on the same day along Illinois Route 41 between Swing Boulevard and Main Street in Galesburg. Both projects will require intermittent lane closures while the IL 41 project will involve curb repairs. Both projects are expected to wrap up by October. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through these areas. To avoid the work area, when feasible, the use of alternate routes should be considered. U S 34 going back under construction starting Monday

March 17, 2021 Travelers between Monmouth and Galesburg who utilize U.S. 34 will see potential delays as construction to replace a bridge begins next week. The Illinois Department of Transportation says that starting on Monday, work will begin to replace the bridge that carries the four-lane highway over Township Road 162, otherwise known as 120th Street, about four miles east of Monmouth. The bridge replacement will see traffic reduced to one lane in each direction during the project, which is expected to be completed by June of 2022. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Or, drivers should consider avoiding the work area, when feasible, and using alternate routes.
