Home | News & Events | U.S. Embassy and Mobil Promote STEAM Opportunities SUVA – The U.S. Embassy and Mobil Oil (Fiji) marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by highlighting the importance of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) programs and encouraging youth to take advantage of science opportunities. U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Tony Greubel announced the launch of two U.S. government-sponsored STEAM programs: Space Camp and a STEAM Youth Leadership Program. Mobil Oil (Fiji) Chief Executive Officer Adi Tamara shared the company’s commitment to education, women in the sciences, and the need for more youth to pursue STEAM degrees.

Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Suva, Fiji (January 26, 2021) Location:  South Pacific Event:   The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director has signed an order requiring all airline passengers traveling to the United States, including U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 viral test or recovery from COVID-19.    Effective January 26, all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older must provide either a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel or provide a positive test result and documentation from a licensed health care provider or public health official of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel.  Passengers must also attest, under penalty of law, to having received a negative qualifying test result or to recovery from COVID-19 and medical clearance to travel.�

The exhibition at the Chief of Mission Residence for the Embassy of the United States of America in Suva featured art from the United States as well as local artists. Ambassador Cella said, “We would like to express our immense gratitude to the featured artists from the United States of America in this exhibition for generously lending their beautiful works to the Department of State’s Art in Embassies program, as well as to the gifted local Fijian artists and the Fiji Arts Council. Home | News & Events | Ambassador Cella Hosts Fiji Forward Business and Economic Roundtable on Building Bridges Between Civil Society, Business and Government SUVA – The United States Ambassador to Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, and Tuvalu Joseph Cella convened more than fifty representatives from Fiji’s private sector, including business leaders, business associations, and civil society, for a Fiji Forward Business and Economic Roundtable entitled “Building Bridges Between Civil Society, Business, and Government.” Three speakers from Ambassador Cella’s home state of Michigan who have been engaged in different capacities throughout their careers in civil society, business, and government, and presently work as professional government relations advisors, shared anecdotes and best practices about how businesses, civil society, and government can work together.
