The desire to earn money for a living amid the economic hardship brought by the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is the reason why residents continue to go back to the Volcano Island in Batangas despite serious threat from the continuous rumbling of the Taal Volcano.

On Tuesday, at least 60 people were forcibly evacuated from the Volcano Island, locally referred to as Pulo, as the Provincial Government of Batangas insisted in strictly enforcing a local ordinance that declare the entire Pulo Island as a ‘No Man’s Land’ as a result of the destructive eruption of the Taal Volcano in January last year.
