Why residents of Volcano Island go back despite threat of Taal Volcano

Published February 17, 2021, 3:47 PM The desire to earn money for a living amid the economic hardship brought by the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is the reason why residents continue to go back to the Volcano Island in Batangas despite serious threat from the continuous rumbling of the Taal Volcano. (PCG / MANILA BULLETIN) On Tuesday, at least 60 people were forcibly evacuated from the Volcano Island, locally referred to as Pulo, as the Provincial Government of Batangas insisted in strictly enforcing a local ordinance that declare the entire Pulo Island as a ‘No Man’s Land’ as a result of the destructive eruption of the Taal Volcano in January last year.
