A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the
Guardian outlines the closures that are due to affect residents and drivers in Chigwell, Epping and Waltham Abbey among other areas. A section of High Road, Chigwell, is set to be shut for seven days from Monday for new water connection works to be carried out. The road will be closed from its junction with Green Lane to its roundabout junction with Grange Farm Lane, a distance of approximately 115 metres. The following day, an overnight closure of a section of London Road, Harlow, is due to start to allow traffic island, signs and line marking works to get underway.

Guardian details the order that came into effect on April 22 for the temporary closures of various lengths of road – some of more than a mile long – in Waltham Abbey, Loughton, Chigwell and Nazeing. In addition to the closures, temporary ‘no waiting, no loading and no stopping’ restrictions will be introduced along each section of road. Furthermore, the 7.5 tonne weight limit in that length of Sewardstone Road/Crooked Mile from the junction of Sewardstone Roundabout to the junction with Crooked Mile Roundabout in Waltham Abbey will also be temporarily suspended. The order is valid for 18 months from April 22 but exact dates when each section of works will take place will be specified on the one.network website.

However, the works will be undertaken in a phased manner and the dates will be specified on the one.network website. The sections of road due to be closed are: Paternoster Hill, Upshire Road, Horseshoe Hill, Waltham Abbey – from its junction with Paternoster Hill service road to its junction with Pick Hill, a distance of approximately 1257 metres.
