The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to submit a status report on steps taken after the killing of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj.
Authorities are putting all-out efforts to unearth Atiq’s unaccounted properties that are estimated to be of several thousand crores. The UP government in a recent statement claimed to have already seized properties and assets worth around Rs 1,169 crore belonging to him.
