Coronavirus: The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday decided to further extend the duration of the curfew in the state till May 17 amid a surge in coronavirus cases.

LUCKNOW: The ongoing closure in Uttar Pradesh has been extended till May 10, according to UP additional chief secretary Navneet Sehgal.
As a result, all the restrictions under corona curfew will now continue till 7am on May 10.
Officials, for unexplained reasons, refuse to term this as a lockdown.
All shops and establishments will remain closed during this period.

LUCKNOW: A record single-day 332 Covid-19 deaths were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, pushing the fatality count in the state to 12,570, while the total number of cases mounted to 12,52,324 with 34,626 more people testing positive for the disease.
A total of 34,494 people recovered from coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The active cases in the state now stand at 3,10,783
So far, 9,28,971 patients have recuperated from Covid-19 in the state, Additional Chief Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters
More than 2.44 lakh samples were tested for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, which included over 1.08 lakh RTPCR tests, taking the total number of samples tested so far in the state to over 4.07 crore, the highest in the country, Prasad said.

LUCKNOW: A record single-day spike of 37,238 Covid-19 cases and 196 fatalities pushed Uttar Pradesh s infection tally to over 10 lakhs and the death toll due to the disease to 10,737, officials said here on Friday.
As many as 22,566 patients recovered from the disease in the state in a span of 24 hours, taking the total count of recoveries to 7,28,980, additional chief secretary, information, Navneet Sehgal said.
On Thursday, the state had recorded 34,379 new cases and 195 deaths.
Uttar Pradesh presently has 2,73,653 active cases, of which over 2.18 lakh are in-home isolation, Sehgal said.
Noida, which borders Delhi, is among the worst-affected cities in Uttar Pradesh.

Amid an alarming rise in coronavirus cases, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday tightened existing restrictions in worst-hit districts, including extension of night curfew hours and deferring the state board exams till next month.
At the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a decision was also taken to extend closure of schools till May 15. Due to a steady increase in COVID-19 cases, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to postpone Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations and has said that the new dates will be decided in May after reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state. For students of Classes 1 to 12, classroom teaching will remain suspended till May 15. No exam will be held during this period. The UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations will be held after May 20 and the new time table will be decided in the first week of May, the government has said.
