trump sdwror say anything of that sort and makes it look very political. how about your reaction? definitely i agree with erin and think we re seeing a trend whether donald trump jr. or any number of republicans using this to further discredit the fbi and department of justice, shocking for the law and order party to do that. yesterday republican voters showed turning on the fbi in large majoritiemajorities. i m curious, erin. particularly the line seeing this as sweet revenge. for his family. yeah. that one s not, let s say, having been sanctioned by the attorneys. do you think they said to him, go out there and say that? no. but when do any of the trumps say things that are sanctioned by their attorneys? you know, donald trump jr. s father certainly says whatever he wants on twitter all the time. i don t think donald trump jr. is talking to the attorneys as much as he probably should, in fact. okay. hmm. alexi, your reaction as well?
up to foolishness and irresponsibility if that proves to be the case does that absolve the president of legal responsibility? not at all, and i think to an earlier point, ivy you have mueller paying attention to everything that both the president and his family, people that he s brought into his inner circle, remember given his son and everybody a tremendous responsibility in the white house, and in running government. so i think you have the fbi sorry. the, mueller in his investigation looking hard at everything that everyone in the president s circle is saying and doing at every single moment in an attempt, perhaps, to impeach these comments later on. and i would also say, you know, to the point from earlier. it s really important that the democrats don t necessarily chime in in ways that turn the american people off. i think we, going back to what donald trump is saying and doing
president was going to fire the special counsel. it s possible the president uttered the words, i want mueller fired, gone. i never heard that. you never heard those specific? no. the sentiment expressed? i think it was very clear by the president s own words he was concerned about the conflicts of interest that he felt that the special counsel had, and he made that very clear. perhaps someone interpreted that to mean something else. how do you interpret that? how do you think members of the president s cabinet or his chief of staff interpret the president? well, look. what we know. we know he fired comey. we know that he thought about firing mueller. and we know that presumably he s thinking at the moment about the possibility of firing rod rosenstein. now, i would say that if donald trump we don t know what his next reckless pre-emptive strike against this investigation may be, but if he
donald trump jr. is that going to come back to haunt him? or does does bob mueller look at that and kind of go ah you know? roll his eyes? i would love to see how many times robert mueller has rolled his eyes over the course of the last several months he s been doing this investigation. the fact is, that the media strategy for the trumps is paint themselves at the victim. they know that whatever is going to happen legally will come out in the wash, and they have maybe some control but relatively little to no control over what that final verdict is going to be because of the depth and breadth of the invest sgags. what they re doing now is all political game and strategy, painteding themselves as the victim. looking where republicans stand in all this. they re on tinder hooks, right? the entire debate over the past year, how much do we side with donald trump? how politically toxic is he going to be or how much do we actually need his base? for those, honestly, those trump voters
they need informants and help and i m worried that citizen will take a few seconds to process whether they should help or not. that s the real damage that s being done by the white house. all right. msnbc national security analyst, i appreciate our conversations. come back. see me soon. thank you. thanks. they needed it to be true. up next, we re going to unpack donald trump jr. s new comments about the democrats and this controversial meeting with the russians at trump tower. i wanted to know who i am and where i came from. i did my ancestrydna and i couldn t wait to get my pie chart. the most shocking result was that i m 26% native american. i had no idea. just to know this is what i m made of, this is where my ancestors came from. and i absolutely want to know more about my native american heritage.
