Tributes paid to inspirational jeweller

Diana Porter’s colleagues have paid tribute to their “formidable leader” as they announced that she has sadly died.
Diana trained as a teacher and later ran theatre companies, set up an arts centre in Bristol and ran a women’s festival in Birmingham.
But it is for her jewellery that she is best known, with the shop bearing her name set to continue on Park Street.

A woman who turned her hobby making jewellery in Bristol into one of Britain’s most prestigious brands has died.
Diana Porter was one of the leading figures in the world of jewellery design, after starting her own business making jewellery in her front room back in 1993.
Within six years, in 1999, she was named UK Jewellery Designer of the Year, her store and workshop was one of the stalwarts of Park Street in the city centre, and her brand of jewellery is now sold in high street shops across the country.
The 48-year-old also said: The station was owned by Capital and they asked if I would like to work in London. I jumped at the chance since I grew up listening to Capital. Walking into their Euston Tower studios for the first time seemed like walking into a radio Mecca.
