We ve been told at this point that it s not needed because India has a reasonably robust system to deal with this. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday stressed on the importance of five actions to fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) as it is crucial for preventing future pandemics.
The Prime Minister put forward the actions at the high-level Interactive Dialogue on AMR through her pre-recorded statement played at the opening segment of the dialogue at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The actions include an integrated multisectoral action plan on AMR, including a collective action plan by the international community at both regional and global levels with a special focus on low- and middle-income countries; and good manufacturing, laboratory practices, and surveillance framework.

DHAKA, April 29, 2021 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today unveiled a five-point “action plan” to effectively fight antimicrobial resistance (AMR), saying that failure to tackle this hazard may cause even more lethal pandemics in future.
“The world is now witnessing the devastating Covid-19 pandemic and the AMR may cause even more lethal pandemics in future,” she said while delivering her recorded statement broadcast at a High-level Interactive Dialogue on AMR in New York, the USA.
The premier added: “Failure to tackle this hazard in time will result in huge loss of human lives, animals, and plants.”

United Nations, Apr 28 (PTI) As India battles a crippling surge in COVID-19 infections and deaths, the United Nations has offered the assistance of its integrated supply chain and is willing to help” in whatever way it can, a spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said.
UN authorities remain in touch with officials in India over the situation in the country, Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the UN chief said.
