Queensland Health traces UK case but no new infections overnight

Though there have been no new locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 in Queensland overnight, a new case of the more contagious UK strain has emerged in isolation.
The woman, who had travelled from the UK via Melbourne, has been in the Sunshine Coast community with the UK strain since January 5, albeit with a low risk.
Queensland Health is urgently investigating after the woman flew into Melbourne on December 26, tested positive for COVID-19 there the following day. After serving 10 days in quarantine, she then tested positive to the new, more infectious UK COVID-19 strain on Friday in Queensland.

A returned traveller who completed mandatory hotel quarantine in Melbourne before flying to Queensland to visit her parents has returned a positive result for the more infectious UK strain of coronavirus.
Health authorities are urgently investigating a case of an international traveller who flew into Melbourne on December 26, tested positive for COVID-19 the following day and stayed for 10 days in quarantine.
