Over the 24 hours ending at 12pm on 13 January, there were no locally or internationally acquired cases of Covid 19 in Victoria The Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS) said that over the same period 16,533 tests results were processed.
The DHSS said there were 29 active cases in the state and these included the people who were in hotel quarantine.
International passengers returning to Australia will now be required to provide a pre-flight negative COVID test, while masks will become compulsory on all flights, under new National Cabinet measures.
People who have already spent two weeks in hotel quarantine at Brisbane's Grand Chancellor where a cleaner tested positive to the UK variant of the virus are told they will have their quarantine extended with 129 guests being moved to other hotels.

Ship Crew Member Arrested In Australia For Swimming To Port And Breaking COVID Rules

In a surprisingly frightening incident, a seafarer has jumped from his ship and swam to port breaching all COVID protocols in Australia.
The alleged bulk carrier crew has been arrested and would be appearing in court, said Premier Mark McGowan who termed the incident unusual and reaffirmed that it’s not a risk to the community.
Qld authorities are on high alert after a woman infected with the UK mutant strain of COVID-19 flew in four days ago. It comes as no new cases are recorded.
