Saldivar’s decision to focus on such composers came from years of studying music and realizing that his knowledge of composers from his own heritage was limited. He discovered there was little of this type of repertoire in the United States being used to teach trombone.
One of the Kentucky Can campaign’s most significant impacts has been increasing student access to higher education and cultivating Kentucky’s best and brightest minds. More than 53,500 donors contributed to student support as part of Kentucky Can, giving more than $495 million to support students with financial needs.
UK Men’s Chorus kicks off their 2023-24 season with "30 Years in Your Ears," a reunion concert featuring the acclaimed acoUstiKats. Alumni from both ensembles will be joining the Men’s Chorus onstage to celebrate 30 years of singing together. The concert will begin 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in the Concert Hall of the Singletary Center for the Arts.
The University of Kentucky Treble Choir (formerly UK Women’s Choir) will present the first concert of their 2023-24 season 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, in the Singletary Center’s Recital Hall. Joining the UK Treble Choir onstage will be the Lafayette High School Advanced Women’s Choir and UK’s Paws and Listen.
