When COVID-19 struck the world, many organizations were forced to cancel their fundraising events.
To the Union Relief Association of Westfield, this was devastating. Union Relief typically holds several fundraisers during the year to raise money to support their mission of giving temporary relief to people in the Westfield area who may be struggling and in need of a little assistance.
The need is often the greatest during the holiday season and annually Union Relief organizes a Christmas program to help Westfield families and senior citizens.
Union Relief’s biggest fundraiser for the Christmas program is the Charity Ball, which has been held every year for almost 100 years. However, without COVID subsiding, it was impossible to safely hold this long-standing event. Members of the organization, faced with a year where community need was greater and program expenses were projected to exceed $ 10,000 dollars, decided to reach out to the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation

WESTFIELD The Westfield Fund, a Community Donor Advised Fund affiliated with the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, recently held its Annual Reorganization Meeting. The Westfield Fund provides grants to charitable projects and organizations within the Westfield community. Those grants are made possible by contributions from individuals, families, and businesses.
Members of the Advisory Committee are Martha Bills, Bob Dyment, John Hemmer, Marilyn Hemmer, Cristie Herbst, Al Holbrook, Deanne Manzella, Rick Mascaro, Sue Poster, Vinny Samzo, Joel Seachrist, Mike Vande Velde, and Rachel Willow. Members of the Grants Committee include Pete Holt, Jean McCausland, Nancy Walker, Dan Willow, Sue Poster, Rick Mascaro, and Cristie Herbst.

Westfield-Mayville Rotarians collectively donated 87 containers of laundry detergent and 87 boxes of dryer sheets for the Union Relief Association of Westfield, NY. The items will be included in Christmas boxes of food, toys and other necessities for Westfield families. Patty Benton, Westfield-Mayville Rotary Community Service Chair, delivered the donations to Union Relief on Dec. 10.
