First on 13. A des moines man charged in a fatal hit and run is back behind bars this morning. Orlando rodriguez was set free just one year ago. Now hes charged with assaulting his own mother. Rodriguez spent five years in jail after hitting and killing a man with his vehicle. It started as rodriguez and his brother were stealing gas from a convenience store. As they sped away, their van hit and killed 48 yearold bruce mundy. That was back in 2009. Now hes charged with showing up protective order. And assaulting her. Rodriguez had reportedly been snorting meds at the time. Bruce mundys loved ones say theyre not surprised by his latest behavior. i think his record would show that he needs far more help than being locked up and given no help at all. Theres many programs out there.
