Pune-based pharmaceutical company Serum Institute of India (SII) launched India s first indigenously developed pneumococcal conjugate vaccine Pneumosil on Monday. The vaccine was launched by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.
The Health Ministry said in a statement that Serum Institute of India Private Limited (SIIPL) is currently the world s largest manufacturer of vaccines by number of doses and the vaccine developed by SII are used in 170 countries.

New Delhi [India], December 21 (ANI): Prime MinisterNarendra Modi will inaugurate the India International Science Festival at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, said Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.
Addressing the curtain-raiser press conference on the event, Union Minister on Monday said, Prime MinisterNarendra Modi will inaugurate the India International Science Festival-2020 at 4:30 pm tomorrow. On December 25, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will participate in the closing ceremony of the festival.

New Delhi: As Britain issued an alert over a more-infectious mutant coronavirus strain that appeared to be out of control and was causing a surge in cases, many countries around the world announced flight bans to and from the United Kingdom.
Canada joined the long list of European countries which have shut their doors to travellers from the UK ahead of the Christmas.
Amid the leading European countries which have announced restrictions include France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
