Olympic champions Austria won their third men's team event out of four
on the International Ski Federation Ski Jumping World Cup with victory
on the large hill at Salpausselkä in Lahti.
Ulrich Wohlgenannt
Due to the strong wind, the first competition of the Continental Cup in Zakopane (POL) could not be held on Saturday evening as originally planned. That s why both competitions on the Wielka Krokiew took place on Sunday.
In significantly improved conditions compared to yesterday, Austria s Ulrich Wohlgenannt took his next win in the COC in the morning. The 26-year-old, who was the best in all four Continental Cup competitions in Willingen in early February, won with jumps of 138 m and 133.5 m and 266.1 points.
In this extremely tight competition on the HS 140, Manuel Fettner came in close behind his teammate and secured the 1-2 finish for Austria with 136.5 m and 131.5 m and 165.7 points.
Junshiro Kobayashi, Tomasz Pilch, Maciej Kot
Also on day 2 of the Continental Cup in Brotterode (GER), the victory went to a ski jumper of Poland. After Stefan Hula was the best on Saturday evening, his teammate Tomasz Pilch had a reason to celebrate on Sunday.
The 20-year-old laid the foundation for this success with a jump of 115 m in the first round, 111 m in the final and 272.2 points were then enough for Tomasz Pilch to secure his third win in the Continental Cup. The last time the jumper from Wisla won was in December 2017 in Ruka (FIN).
After his third place yesterday, Junshiro Kobayashi could show yet another strong performance today. The Japanese was able to improve his result by one place and came in second with 111.5 m and 109.5 m and 268.8 points.
