Ex-UL Softball Player Aeriyl Mass Off to Solid Start in 2021   A former starting outfielder for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns is off to a fast start with her current softball school. Aeriyl Mass, who played two seasons for Louisiana, from 2018-2019, has helped the Southeastern Louisiana Lions to an 8-10 start to the 2021 college softball season. In the lineup as SLU s left fielder and leadoff hitter, Mass is hitting .361, to go along with two home runs, ten runs batted in, and 11 stolen bases. Last season, her first at Southeastern Louisiana, Mass appeared in 22 games, hitting .364 with 17 steals. A former prep standout at Barbe High School in Lake Charles, Mass appeared in 52 games for Louisiana as a freshman in 2018, including 32 as a starter, hitting .253 with ten stolen bases, before going 0-for-9 last season, being used primarily as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement.

UL Softball Sweeps Doubleheader From Memphis   The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns returned to the win column with a pair of non-conference road softball victories on Saturday afternoon. 12th-ranked Louisiana swept a doubleheader from the Memphis Tigers in a twinbill played in Memphis, Tennessee, winning the first game, 7-2, before also capturing the second game, 9-0, in five-inning, mercy-rule fashion. The doubleheader represented the first two games of a three-game, weekend series. The Cajuns, who had lost three of their last four games, are now 3-1 for the week, after a road win over McNeese (5-4) on Wednesday night, followed by a home loss to Baylor (8-1) on Thursday evening.

UL Softball Falls to Baylor The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns suffered a home loss on the softball diamond on Thursday night. 9th-ranked Louisiana fell to the Baylor Bears, 8-1, in a non-conference match-up at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park. Baylor broke open a 2-1 game with six runs in the 5th inning, as they collected the 7-run win. The setback was the third over the last four games and the first of the week for the Cajuns, who opened the week with a 5-4 come from behind road victory over the McNeese St. Cowgirls in Lake Charles on Wednesday night.

UL Softball Records Road Win Over McNeese   The 12th-ranked Louisiana Ragin Cajuns got back on the winning track with a road win over a state rival on Wednesday night. Louisiana defeated the McNeese St. Cowgirls, 5-4, in a non-conference contest in Lake Charles. Justice Milz launched a three-run home run in the top half of the 6th inning to help lift Louisiana to the come-from-behind victory. The triumph was the second in as many tries against McNeese for the Cajuns this season, after an 8-7 extra-innings win over the Cowgirls last Wednesday at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park. The win, which ended a short two-game losing streak, opened a busy week of action for UL, who will play four more non-conference games this week, all of them on the road.
