Waterproof MEMS barometric pressure sensor platform delivers high accuracy

Waterproof MEMS barometric pressure sensor platform delivers high accuracy TDK has released the InvenSense ICP-10125, part of the SmartPressure family of the MEMS barometric pressure sensor platform. The device achieves what it claims is the industry’s lowest pressure noise of 0.4Pa RMS, attains the industry’s lowest power consumption of 1.3µA, and assures superior temperature stability with a temperature coefficient of ±0.5Pa/C. The device links a barometric pressure and a temperature sensor in a small 3.55mm x 3.55mm x 1.45mm chimney package with waterproofing gel, offering IPX8 waterproofing to 10ATM. The uniform machined lid and chimney with groove allow easier handling at production and assembly of customer products. The solution is targeted at the smartwatch, fitness, and portable device markets that aid in fitness activity monitoring, location tracking for E911 calls, and indoor/outdoor navigation (dead-reckoning, floor/elevator/step detection).
