The Chief Inspector General s Office has released its preliminary report on the Department of Economic Opportunity s unemployment system, CONNECT.
Governor Ron DeSantis directed Chief Inspector General Melinda Miguel to initiate the review of CONNECT in May 2020 after an unprecedented spike in unemployment claims due to the pandemic.

With 6,014 new COVID-19 cases reported Thursday by the Florida Department of Health, Florida’s weekly trend has reached another multi-month low at about 5,400 cases daily. That’s the best since November 12th.
Florida’s finally seeing follow-through on the promised increase in first-dose vaccines to our state. While current supplies still aren’t equitable to what we had the week of January 17th - this week’s vaccines have produced the most first-dose vaccinations since January 22nd.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Alexandra Castellanos has been unemployed since April 2020 but for some reason the state’s unemployment records had her back to work and on the payroll with a New Jersey mortgage company.
“Get-a-Rate, Pay-a-Rate, I didn’t even know what it was,” she said. ”When I looked it was a company I never worked for or applied to.”
