Hometown Poke, rated a top 40 restaurant by yelp, reopens

Local poke shop opened in 2018 Ting said she is just glad she can be back at the business she helped build from a incubator kitchen at Hope & Main in Warren and a mobile food cart. The restaurant opened at 185 Camp St. in 2018. Ting’s winning bid secured her the restaurant name, location and food truck. She wasn’t able to reopen until April because she said she had to reincorporate to get all new permits, accounts and to buy some new equipment. Ting and Brady’s  restaurant ownership was dissolved last year when lawsuits over that ownership went unresolved even after mediation. Though the business was solvent, the ownership dispute brought the restaurant under court receivership and a Special Master was appointed to protect business interests.

Bacco owner starts recovery from COVID-19

PROVIDENCE  There s good news that Armando Bisceglia, the amiable owner of Bacco Vino & Contorni, is on the road to recovery. After several weeks on a ventilator suffering with COVID-19, he took to social media Wednesday to post a 30 second video. We re doing okay. We re going to be alright, he said.  Today was a good day. Though clearly weak and still receiving oxygen, Bisceglia took time to say thanks for all the messages sent his way while he was critically ill.  We’re going to move forward and we’re going to do what we do, he said on the Facebook video.

Bacco owner battles COVID, Armando Bisceglia Federal Hill restaurant

He fought hard to hold on, scrappy and passionate like the state he embraced. But now this. Word went out this week that Armando Bisceglia is so ill with COVID that he’s on a ventilator. He’s a reminder of the toll the virus still takes. I first met him as manager at Zooma when, selflessly, he urged me to write about a compatriot named Billy Manzo, a “master pizzaioli” constantly pushing for the Holy Grail of the genre at Manzo’s two restaurants, Federal Hill Pizza of Warren and Providence. That was August of 2019. His idea was to bring his old world family recipes, and southern Italian cuisine, to the state’s Little Italy.

Reopening of restaurants continues after end of year pause

They are Maria s Cucina in Providence, Giusto in Newport and Blackies in Smithfield. Blackie s will be back with the creativity of chef Angie Armenise and the steady hand of manager Jeanine Iannucci as they reopen Wednesday, March 17. Their large restaurant at 280 George Washington Highway in Smithfield has been closed since September. Even though we are Italian we are hoping for the luck of the Irish, said Iannucci. As they reopen for the second time, she said they streamlining the menu and going back to Blackies favorites. She described that as What made us be who we were. There will still be all the gluten free options, the restaurant is known for. Their keto and paleo menus will be limited to specials for now.
