"Best is to ban social media. Lot of good will come. Today, school-going children are so addicted to it," the Karnataka High Court remarked while hearing an appeal by X Corp (formerly Twitter) concerning blocking orders.
The decision comes weeks after Dorsey accused India of threatening to shut down the social media platform in the country unless it complied with orders to restrict accounts critical of the handling of farmer protests in 2021.
Justice Dixit remarked that even if the Court had powers to lay down guidelines, it would not exercise such power at the instance of a “foreign entity engaged in speculative litigation.”
