Outrage over cancelled hotel bookings because of the arrival of NRL teams in Queensland is growing after it was revealed a foster parents conference had been told to make way for star players.
Queensland Foster and Kinship Care, a child protection charity that provides foster homes for children who have experienced harm, was told that the conference it had organised at Twin Waters Novotel Resort on the Sunshine Coast, would need to be cancelled because the NRL had now booked the resort.
It s the same resort that kicked a bride-to-be and her family out of their rooms to make way for NRL players.

Subscriber only The Melbourne Storm are set to remain on the Sunshine Coast due to the latest Covid-19 outbreak in Victoria. Following consultation with the NRL, the team has decided to extend its camp at the Twin Waters Resort and facilities at the Sunshine Coast Stadium. The Storm arrived on the Coast on May 14 and were due to fly out from Brisbane on May 26 after their round 12 clash against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium. A statement from the club said the Storm would continue to liaise with governments, their health authorities and the NRL before making any decision on a return date to Victoria.
