Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court resumes normal operations

NEW PHILADELPHIA  Normal operations have resumed in the General Trial Division of Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court. Judges Elizabeth Lehigh Thomakos and Michael Ernest determined that the COVID-19 pandemic had abated sufficiently to rescind temporary orders related to the public health emergency. The judges order, signed Wednesday, says the court will conduct in-person hearings and conferences, with the use of videoconference technology and telephone on a case-by-case basis. The court will continue to accept fax filings to (330) 343-4682 and emailed filings to clerkfiling@co.tuscarawas.oh.us. The fax and emailed filings are to be accepted despite the published rule regarding court cost deposits.

A hearing with the Board of Professional Conduct of the Supreme Court of Ohio is scheduled for April 22 and 23. Cox is accused of having sexual intercourse with a client and telling her he was divorcing his wife. Cox denies this. Along with the initial complaint filed, Cox addresses all allegations in answer of the respondent document. COSHOCTON – A Coshocton lawyer has been accused of having an affair with a client and then lying about it in violation of professional conduct codes.

Fleeing suspect rescued from Stillwater Creek ice Tuesday night

DENNISON A wanted 19-year-old Uhrichsville man was rescued from the ice atop Stillwater Creek on Tuesday night after fleeing from police. Deputies got Glenn D.W. Skinner off the ice so emergency medical workers could treat him, according to Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell. Looks like the guys did a great job and could very well have saved Mr. Skinner, Campbell said by email. He credited deputies Chris Edwards, Brian Hale and Dave Digenova with rescuing Skinner, along with K-9 Bruno. Skinner was unresponsive when they found him, according to Edwards initial report of the incident. Deputies removed him from the ice and dragged him to U.S. Route 250. Uhrichsville Fire Department paramedics took him from the road to a hospital for treatment of severe hypothermia.
