Turkey Season Kicks Off April 21nd By Travis Cleven Apr 7, 2021 5:02 AM The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding hunters that the spring turkey hunt starts April 21nd and goes on until June 1st. The 2021 spring turkey hunt includes six, seven-day periods running Wednesday through the following Tuesday. Each of the DNR’s seven turkey management zones will be open for hunting. The Fall 2020 – Spring 2021 Combined Hunting Regulations provide hunters with season dates, general regulations, shooting hours, and anything else notable for the hunt. Please remember that turkey registration is mandatory and hunters must register their turkey by 5 p.m. the day after shooting using the DNR’s Electronic Game Registration reporting system GameReg, or by phone at 1-844-426-3734. Hunters will need their harvest authorization number to register their turkey, located on a paper or a digital copy of their harvest authorization.

Nearly 40,000 Acres Of Private Land Will Open To Turkey Hunters

Public Access Made Possible Through DNR & USDA Partnership MADISON, Wis. – The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that nearly 38,000 acres of private land will be open for public access to hunters this turkey season thanks to a partnership between the department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS). In 2020, THAP added 5,200 acres that hunters can be used only during spring turkey hunting seasons. Another 2,300 acres were added to VPA-HIP for hunters to use throughout the year for hunting, fishing, trapping and wildlife observation. Spring turkey hunters interested in scouting and hunting THAP and VPA-HIP private properties available for use can find additional details and interactive maps following the links above.
