i would begin rebuilding the six fleet, the defensive program in poland, conduct regular aggressive military exercises in the baltic states. vladimir putin would get the message. governor scott walker, wisconsin bragged about being one of the first candidates to promise to rip up the iranian nuclear deal on his day one as president. i was one of the first ones to call for terminating the bad deal with iran on day one. the president said i need to bone up. the president who called isis the jv squad said i need to bone up. it s a bad deal because this president allowed iran to go closer and closer. i would love to play cards with this guy because barack obama folds on every deal with iran. i think it is incredibly important. this is really about the
mrs. clinton is going to have to defend her track record. her track record of lying about b benghazi, lying about her e-mails and her server. she does not have a track record of accomplishment. i too have traveled hundreds of miles around the globe. unlike mrs. clinton, i know flying is an activity, not an accomplishment. mrs. clinton, if you want to stump a democrat, ask them to name an accomplishment of mrs. clinton. what we did learn tonight about foreign policy 2016, we learned a lot. there are a lot of hawks out there. here what is we heard. get tough with putin, rip up the iran deal on day one. cancel china s state dinner coming up. carly fiorina called for sending a strong, even militaristic message to russia. having met vladimir putin, point talk to him at all. we talked too much to him.
i want to respond to several folks up here who said we should trust this iranian deal and see if iranians will comply. anyone paying attention knows they will not comply. i want to say what the senator just said. no one let me suggest to you, we believe we operate better in the world when our allies work with us. president bush did it in the gulf war. we work better when we are unified. secondly, nobody s trusting iran. they violate the deal, we put on the sanctions and we have the high moral ground to talk to our allies in europe to get them to go with us. we can have it and we can have our allies and we can be strong as a country and we can project across this globe with unity, not just doing it alone. that is not what gets us where we want to get as a nation. bob walker, former congressman of pennsylvania and supporter of john kasich. congressman walker, your guy had
of this deal a breakout time extended to one year. we will see multiple trip wires along the way. if iran cheats, we will know it and have time to react. do you agree there is enough safeguards in place that the iranians will not have any nuclear weapons in 15 years from now? yeah, i have to tell you, john, that s a bold claim that joel made that he guarantees that iran will not have a nuclear weapon ever. which is amazing. my approach to the middle east is i sum the worst of the middle east and get surprise on the up side rather than assuming the best and def stated on the down side. i wasn t in washington in 2003 after the war in iraq but my recollection and assessment is there were too many people overly optimistic they would be a transformational moment in the middle east by invading saddam and what turn ed out to be a nonexistent nuclear weapon program f. joel believes the intelligence community will get it right, he has to explain why they got it wrong on china,
better than the status quo? i don t think it is actually. right now iran is in a very weak state. its economy is under severe pressure. the iranians desperately need a deal. they desperately need their economy to recover. because without a recovering economy it may precipitate a political change in iran that the supreme leader and hard liners do not want to see. without this agreement, the argument is they will return to full-scale uranium enrichment. they don t engage in massive nuclear expansion. the problem with this deal, if iran complies with the deal within a decade or so they will have a massive nuclear program, near zero nuclear breakout and a powerful economy immunized against political pressure. that s the criticism, iran doesn t have to do anything, bide its time and by 2030 it will be a nuclear arms state and have a good economy to boot.
