stone columnist, joe michaelson. i thought it was important to talk to people who don t want to give up their guns. they all have very different reasons for having guns. they all have what sounded to me like legitimate reasons. they got them for all different times in their lives. but they are, of course, disgusted by gun violence. they have different solutions. so it is so maddening, and that saying that their lawmakers cannot do any of these things. first there is a tendency to demonize the other side whatever the other sides and we see that this is not the case on this issue. there are people who care about their guns, they care about their interpretation of the second amendment, but they support common sense gun safety regulations. what is frustrating about this is that a lot of these specific regulations that were proposed have already, in the segment, or proposed by democrats and republicans shot them down. i know joe will say that is because republicans don t trust democrats. bu
to get their own views across. and then again, as people gather for fourth of july parades and bbqs over the weekend, what voters believe is the root of disagreement on political issues. 35% say that s an honest disagreement. we just disagree. should taxes be higher or lower or regulations? but 50% believe it s from misinformation. how do we get people out of their silos to listen to the other side? yeah. john, joe and i can help explain what s going on, but the prescriptive aspects of this are beyond our abilities. this is this is sobering. it is tough data. and truthfully, i think it may have to get worse before it gets better, and this i mean, you read through this data. people don t democrats don t trust republicans. republicans don t trust democrats. democrats think republicans are getting disinformation. republicans think the same thing about democrats.
