Ocean Atlantic Companies support Sussex Land Trust

Percentage of lot sales in two Cape Region communities totals over $150,000 RON MACARTHUR PHOTO December 23, 2020 Ocean Atlantic Companies recently made a $152,800 donation to the Sussex County Land Trust. At the Dec. 17 check presentation held at Covered Bridge Trails in Lewes are (l-r) Sussex County Councilman Irwin “I.G.” Burton, land trust representative for the county, Ocean Atlantic Chairman Preston Schell, Land Trust Chairman Casey Kenton and Ocean Atlantic President Tom Tipton. The donations came from one-half percent of gross lot sales at Covered Bridge Trails near Lewes ($85,300) and The Farm at Truitt Homestead near Rehoboth Beach ($67,500). Schell said when he and Craig Hudson formed the the land trust 19 years ago, it was his goal to lead by example and get developers to support the land trust by setting aside funds from the sale of lots.

Sussex Land Trust explores pedestrian bridge

Lewes  Delaware  19958United States The Sussex County Land Trust its actively pursuing a project to construct a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over Route 9 to connect legs of the Lewes-to-Georgetown Trail. During a report to Sussex County Council at its Dec. 15 meeting, Executive Director Mark Chura said the bridge would be similar to one over Route 24 at Baywood Greens Golf Course in Long Neck. He said as popularity of the trail increases rapidly, a safer crossing of the busy road is needed. The trail currently ends at the Cool Spring Road-Route 9 intersection, but will eventually continue from there to Georgetown. “I can t tell you this will actually happen,” Chura said. “But, this trail s volume of ridership is tremendous; it s an amazing resource.”

Cape Region housing boom continues

Windstone, Cave Neck Road, Milton Coastal Club, Beaver Dam Road, Lewes Red Mill Pond South, Route 9, Lewes Sawgrass South, Old Landing Road, Rehoboth   List of projects includes those approved or under construction over the past three years in the areas of Long Neck, Angola, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Milton.   Joists are lifted high in the air at the construction site of the Vineyards at Nassau Valley off Route 9 near Lewes. Phase 3 of the project includes apartments, condominiums and single-family homes. Construction at Governors, along Gills Neck Road near Lewes, continues. The subdivision is a mixture of single-family homes and town homes with a total of 423 units.
