In an effort to encourage citizens to donate unused items such which can be refurbished, reused, or recycled to create new ones, the municipal and town councils in the state launched the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) centres in their respective councils on May 20.
RRR Centre launched- Longleng Town Council (LTC) DIMAPUR Longleng Town Council (LTC) launched the RRR Centre on May 20 in its office premises during a programme chaired by the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and administrator of LTC, Alongdhimen Jamir. Speaking on the occasion, the SDO of Longleng, Trongdiba Tongpi Sangtam, exhorted the gathering on the importance of such centre. He suggested that similar centres should be set up in all existing wards with the support of ward leaders and public. The brief presentation was given by Isaac, MIS of Swatch Bharat Mission, Longleng. He stated that RRR centre is a conceptualised one stop solution for sustainable waste management and promoting a clean town. Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): Longleng Town Council (LTC) launched its second phase of cleanliness and hygiene campaign on October 18 by distributing waste collection kits to its sanitary workers, who have been actively involved in the upkeep of solid waste collection through house-to-house collection. Citing the performance of LTC in the recent Swachh Survekshan 2022, administrator of LTC, Trongdiba Tongpi Sangtam, stressed on the significance of keeping a clean and wholesome environment whether at home, offices or public areas, stated a DIPR report. Sangtam also pointed out that the town council would continue its effort by focusing on large scale public participation by sensitising the society about the importance of community participation and working together towards making the town a better place to live in, the report stated.
