The first field goal Triopia’s Caden Moore has ever kicked in a high school football game came with the score tied and no time on the clock against the team’s biggest rival, with a chance at a Western Illinois Valley Conference championship on the line.
Moore’s 21-yard kick sailed straight through the uprights to give the Trojans a 15-12 win over Routt at the old MacMurray College football field in Jacksonville on Saturday.
“I wasn’t very nervous at the start, but when you get up there, it’s different,” Moore said. “It’s a lot different. So I started getting nervous. But I just got the job done, so that’s all we needed to do.”
