Another pretrial conference date has been set in the case against a Cadiz man accused of murdering a Powderly man on Old Rocky Point Road in August.
During a Wednesday court appearance before Trigg Circuit Judge Woody Woodall, Montie Streeval’s attorney Bill Deatherage said he needs more time to look at evidence.
The next pretrial conference was set for Wednesday, June 9, although Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins added test results might not be available by that point. She added by that date; they may have a better idea of when they will be completed.
Streeval remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.
A pretrial date for the case was also set for the afternoon of Wednesday, October 13.
Barnes resigned as Trigg County Sheriff midway through his first term on August 31, 2020, after being indicted by a Trigg County grand jury on one count of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor and one count of tampering with a witness.
A joint investigation by Kentucky State Police, FBI, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky allege Barnes provided alcohol to a person under 21 in February 2020 while sheriff. They also add during the investigation, he knowingly practiced “deceit with the intent to affect the testimony of a potential witness.”
A warrant for failure to appear has been issued for a Trigg County woman charged in connection to the death of her two children.
Keyona Bingham was scheduled to appear virtually Wednesday afternoon before Trigg Circuit Judge Woody Woodall but was not on Zoom when her case was called.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins asked Judge Woodall to issue the warrant.
Judge Woodall set Bingham’s next pre-trial conference for March 10.
A Trigg County grand jury indicted Bingham on two counts of second-degree manslaughter. The charges stem from an April 7, 2020 house fire on Jefferson Street that killed her children, three-year-old Kamari Harris and seven-month-old Ky’nylee Harris.
