BANNU: The tribesmen here on Tuesday refused to bury the body of an elder, who was shot dead on Monday, and placed the corpse outside the Janikhel Police Station as a mark of protest.
Unidentified gunmen killed an elder Malik Naseeb in Janikhel area in Bannu on Monday. The killing triggered protest from the local people.
They complained that the government did not honour the agreement reached with them after the killing of the four teenagers.
They said that the chief minister had signed the agreement and they had been assured that efforts would be made to end bloodshed in Janikhel, but they said that the pledges remained largely unfulfilled as the target killings were still taking place.

BARA: Residents of the Shalobar tribe have demanded the inspector general of police (IGP) to take action against the land grabbers forthwith.
Speaking at a press conference in Khyber Press Club at Bara, Asghar Khan, Jan Afzal, Samand Khan and others said that they had bought 128 kanals land 35 years ago along the boundary of Malikdinkhel and Sipah tribes in Bara.
They said they had constructed two homes and a Hujra on the said land but claimed that now Said Akbar and Sikandar Hayat Kashmiri, belonging to Malikdinkhel, allegedly wanted to grab the land.

Tribesmen in Bara protest killing of student in custody

BARA: Thousands of people staged a protest demonstration here on Tuesday against the killing of a student, who died in police custody at the West Cantonment Police Station in Peshawar two days ago.
A large number of protesters, including politicians, members of the Qaumi Councils, social activists, Anjuman-e-Tajiran Bara, shopkeepers and others attended the protest at Khyber Chowk at Bara Bazaar in Khyber district. They demanded the government to provide justice to the family of Shahzeb Afridi and punish the erring cops. The protesters had blocked the main Pak-Afghan highway for four hours.
