Violence erupted once again in Manipur after a brief lull, with three people injured in clashes in Heirok of Thoubal District, Tengnoupal district, and Pallel of Kakching District. The firing between two groups from Heirok and Tengnoupal has been ongoing since the previous evening. Following the incident, irate Village Volunteers and the public of Heirok retaliated against the armed miscreants.

Manipur: Army seizes illegal weapons in Manipur s Bishnupur district

A defence spokesperson said that the army launched a joint search operation, based on specific input about movement of suspicious individuals and presence of illegal arms and ammunition, along with SSB, Manipur Police including Commandos.The recovered items were handed over to police after the operation.

Passing the order, a bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Tuesday said that it would "not be appropriate" to keep the bodies indefinitely in the mortuaries. The bench ordered that the list of identified bodies should be duly intimated to the next of kin and the last rites should be performed with dignity and observance of religious rites of the community.
