After the first jet plane hit the World Trade Center’s north tower at 8:46 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001, television commentators thought the horrible incident was an aeronautical accident. Then 18 minutes later, another plane struck the south tower on live television. For American Indians, 9/11 proved again we are indeed dual citizens.
Manipur BJP MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh has written to all MLAs in the state, urging them to change the land law to allow non-tribals to own land in tribal areas. Currently, only tribals can purchase land in non-tribal areas. Singh argues that this law is biased and illogical, and that it prevents valley residents from buying land in the hills.
