“You’ve always got to be ready if something goes down,” NIC wrestling coach and Tri-State Invitational tournament director Derrick Booth said. “But anymore, coaches and wrestlers really do a good job of keeping everything going smoothly throughout the entire weekend.”
“There’s a lot of good teams in that area,” first-year Lake City coach David Pratt said. “I like that we get to play them and get a feel for how those teams look. They’ve got such a big league, and we’ve played six of them. To see that level of competition was good for us, and we hope we can see them again later in the season. To play three in a row, it’s kind of a tournament feel, and really, really good for us.”
There’s nothing wrong with specializing, some kids have found a lot of success that way. But getting a few more kids to expand their abilities, could end up helping one area wrestling program in the long run.
