The Cotter High School softball team wrapped up its regular season on a positive note Tuesday. The Lady Warriors defeated Viola 12-8.
Salem’s regular season finale ended with a 10-1 victory over Mammoth Spring. The Lady Bears fall to 17-4 on the season, and their first game in the 1A-3 District Tournament will be Friday at Armorel.
Melbourne was able to secure a regional tournament berth after winning its first game in the 2A-2 District Tournament at Tuckerman. The Lady Bearkatz beat up on White County Central 11-4. Melbourne will face Salem in the semifinals on Thursday.

Izard County had a tough road trip. The Lady Cougars went to Greers Ferry and suffered a 10-4 loss to West Side.
Bergman had a rough day in front of the home crowd. The Lady Panthers lost to Valley Springs by a score of 20-0.
In baseball, Salem went to Providenc and was edged out by White County Central 4-3. Trevor Leisenring suffered the loss in relief as he gave up one run on two hits. Matt Guffey pitched the first 6 1/3 innings, struck out eight batters and gave up three hits and two earned runs. Guffey provided plenty of offense by going three-for-three with a home run, a triple and a single. The Greyhounds fall to 9-6 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.
The Mountain Home High School softball team had a good night Tuesday at McClain Park as they swept a doubleheader over Van Buren.
Mattie Belk drove in Marcie Cudworth from third base on suicide squeeze in the final inning to push the Lady Bombers past the Lady Pointers 1-0 in the first game. Mallory Pierski, Cudworth and Gracie Uchtman each went two-for-three. Lauren Loving was the winning pitcher after striking out nine batters and giving up three hits.
The second game was more lopsided with Mountain Home beating Van Buren 9-2. Emma Crabb was credited with the win by recording eight strikeouts and allowing three hits. Cudworth was three-for-four with an RBI, Tori Robb went two-for-four and drove in three runs, Emily Payne was two-for-four with an RBI coming on a solo home run, Georgia Burnham went two-for-four with an RBI, and Uchtman was two-for-four.

Georgia Burnham led the Lady Bombers by going two-for-three with a solo home run, a double and a walk, and Lauren Loving was two-for-four with an RBI. Mountain Home drops to 10-4 on the season.
Mountain Home fared better in the junior varsity game. The JV Lady Bombers were down to their last out, when Emma Crabb hit a walk-off two-run triple for a 4-3 win over Tech. Emma Crabb was one-for-two with two RBIs, Josie Kelly went two-for-two, and Tori Robb and Olivia Crabb each went one-for-two.
