Saturday evening crash | 94 Country WKKJ

May 3, 2021 A two-vehicle crash late Saturday evening on U.S. 50 in Scioto Township remains under investigation by the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Just after 10:00 Saturday night, car driven by 33-year-old Lewis Sams of Chillicothe was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Trent Hendershot of Chillicothe. The Hendershot vehicle failed to negotiate a curve near milepost 21, and crossed the centerline and struck Sams car. Both individuals were transported to the Adena Regional Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  

Highway patrol investigating crashes that occurred on US 50

Both occurred on US 50 near milepost 21, in Scioto Township. The first was a motorcycle crash that took place at approximately 9:45 p.m, when a 2010 Harley-Davidson Sportster, operated by Chase Rutherford, 34, of Chillicothe, was traveling southeast on US 50 as it negotiated a curve. Rutherford lost control of the motorcycle, slid off the right side of the roadway, and struck a guardrail, according to a news release. Rutherford was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported by Scioto Township EMS to Adena Regional Medical Center. He was later flown to Grant Medical Center in serious condition.
