U.S. Sen. Reverend Warnock, D-GA, visited a Lee County pecan farm Friday to hear from two local farmers about challenges facing the pecan industry and suggestions for the new Farm Bill. Warnock worked with Sen. John Ossoff, D-GA, to secure grants for Georgia farmers to help them generate new products, create and expand marketing and boost income. On Tuesday, the senators’ press offices announced six Georgia farms receiving between $190 thousand and $250 thousand in grants from the USDA’s Value-Added Producer Grant program. Grantees include pecan, cattle, poultry, beef producers as well as vineyards across the state.
