It started with a stone

The Drogheda Branch of the Alzheimer Society has received a cheque for a whopping €1,110 from a Balbriggan woman, who sold beautifully decorated stones she found on her local beach. Just before the first lockdown last year, in early March, Evelyn Reynolds went for a walk on the beach and as she was surrounded by beautiful stones, thought I could do something useful with these , and so she gathered a few and took them home to wash and paint them. I had lots of positive quotes buzzing around in my head so I got to work making Positivity Stones . I gave them to friends and family as gifts and the word spread, explains Evelyn, who was also involved in the craft fair in Julianstown in 2019.

€5,000 donation to Alzheimers centre is welcomed by group

The Drogheda Credit Union has once again pulled out all the stops to help the local Drogheda Alzheimer s group realise their dream of a state of the art centre for the region. The vision of the Alzheimer s group is where no one goes through dementia alone, and where policies and services respond appropriately to the person with dementia and their carers, at the times they need support. Drogheda Credit Union is delighted to help with this vision by donating €5,000 towards the new Day Care Centre in Drogheda. Tredagh Lodge has always operated from a temporary facility, and now with local funding they are now able to relocate to a purpose built centre at a site at Greenhills Drogheda, kindly provided by Louth County Council.
