Teen charged in drive-by shooting that sent El Paso school kids running for cover
UPDATE, June 9: An El Paso teenager has been arrested and charged in a drive-by shooting earlier this month that police said resulted in children at a nearby elementary school running for cover as the gunfire rang out.
19–year-old Jesus Soto was booked into the downtown jail on two counts of deadly conduct and was being held on $500,000 bond, police announced Wednesday.
Police gang unit investigators accuse Soto of firing multiple rounds into a home at 3813 Johnson Avenue in central El Paso on June 3 as he targeted two teens inside; neither was struck by the gunfire, which also prompted a lockout of nearby Travis Elementary School.

Crossing guard fighting for his life
HOUSTON – Parents of Travis Elementary School have come together to help a beloved school crossing guard in his time of need.
John Davis, known by many as “Mr. Davis” has stood outside Travis Elementary just about every school day for more than a decade. After suffering from a serious medical emergency last week, the community has put together to help Davis and his family in his recovery.
Mr. Davis changed lives every time he crossed the street. Even with dozens of students coming through, he made each one, even parents feel special.
